In 2022-2023 Matilde performed Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera and Flora Bervoix in Traviata, both Verdi for the Danish Royal Opera conducted by Paolo Carignani.
Other roles here include Berta in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Kate Pinkerton and Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, 3. Pige in Nielsen’s Maskerade, Auntie in Ruder’s Handmaids Tale and Jenny Girl in Weil’s Mahagonny.
Matilde’s debut was as Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte at the Tiroler Landesteater in Austria and she went on to sing Florence Pike in Albert Herring and Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia at the Britten-Pears Aldeburgh Festival.
At the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden Matilde covered the role of Prince Andronico in Handel’s Tamerlano and the title singing role in the Royal Ballet production of Duparc’s L’invitation au voyage.
At The Danish Royal Opera she has covered Schwertleite in Wagner’s Die Walküre in 2022.
An early operatic credit was the world premiere of Rascado’s Anacleto Morones at the Spoleto Contemporary Opera Festival. Then came Prince Armindo in Handel’s Partenope with the Cambridge Handel Opera Group and Prince Dardano in Handel’s Amadigi di Gaula for the final year of the Battignano Opera Festival.
She has sung the title role in Bizet’s Carmen at Linneateatern Sweden and Principessa Eboli in Verdi’s Don Carlo for Opera M. Matilde also took part in the 2022 Mediteranean Opera Festival performing Zita in Gianni Schicchi La Principessa in Suor Angelica, both by Puccini and Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto.
Wagner roles performed are Waltraute in Die Walküre and Flosshilde in Das Reinhold for the Wagner Society, both conducted by Tony Legge.
Other early roles include Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Niklausse in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, all for Pavilion Opera.
Matilde Wallevik is Danish but grew up all over Europe and speaks 7 languages. She studied at The Royal Danish Conservatoire and continued her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow.
